Up to 100 Dragon Boats take to the water on the Singapore River as part of the annual Singapore River Regatta. Blending skill, strength and stamina with deeply-rooted religious and cultural beliefs, the regatta is a popular event that is swathed in ceremony and rituals. The pace of each boat is set by the rhythmic beating of a drummer who sits in each boat.
